Phoebe, lover of all living things
Jul 11, 2010 I don’t know what it is about Phoebe — she LOVES animals. And bugs. Anything living that can be captured, caressed, or coerced into her lap. She has gotten better about dogs (not kittens — those are still a struggle for her) and surprisingly, she loves bugs. Roly poly bugs, fireflies, beetles, ladybugs, caterpillars, moths, grasshoppers, etc. She doesn’t much care for spiders, but she’ll look at them up close (while mommy runs in the opposite direction screaming).
I’m pretty fascinated with praying mantises (manti? mantids? WHO CARES.) but draw the limit at physical contact. We had one on our porch yesterday, and the damn thing HOPPED ON ME. ON PURPOSE. IT AIMED FOR ME (I personally think it wanted to stab me in the eye). It totally scared the shit out of me, but Phoebe ran right over and put it on her hand, and played with it until I made her put it down. She’s brave, that one.

Aw, this post made my heart go squish. My little guy is the same. :)
Phoebe is awesome. I totally would have screamed too, even though I know I shouldn't, and am fascinated by them too.
